TL;DR:
Mesh Plus joins the Assembly ecosystem to accelerate the development of the first incentivized, wireless long-range network coverage for the Internet of Things that uses the Tangle. Its goal is to be the first-ever network truly suitable for the global Internet of Things.
With the development of 5G, Wifi 6 and LoRawan, the utilization of wireless technologies to connect our world is rapidly increasing. In the Internet of Things (IoT), where low-energy use is required by the millions of smaller edge devices that enable the IoT, the demand for data integrity, supporting hardware and network coverage is especially urgent. However, a comprehensive network scaled up to meet the demands of IoT and cover global verticals is still lacking.
We are excited to welcome Mesh Plus to the Assembly ecosystem as part of the Touchpoint Open Builders Program. Mesh Plus is the first crypto project designed to provide incentivized, wireless long-range network coverage on a global scale for the IoT ecosystem. To do so, it makes use of the 2.4 GHz Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) frequency spectrum in combination with local unlicensed sub-GHz radio bands. This will enable Mesh Plus to offer global coverage for a large array of applications, including smart cities, infrastructure, supply chain, asset location and management.
Mesh Plus is anchored on the Tangle, IOTA’s public infrastructure, and uses Assembly’s smart contract and tokenization capabilities to achieve a highly secure, decentralized, scalable and sustainable solution. Individuals will be incentivized with MESH tokens to set up their own Mesh nodes to provide network coverage. MESH will also be used to mediate the network. Combined with easy-to-use hardware, this will enable rapid community-driven scaling of the network to achieve the desired global coverage in the fastest, most efficient way while making sure those who operate the network are also included in network governance. Beyond LoRa, the versatility of the Mesh Plus network allows future expansion into alternative technologies such as (but not limited to) 4G/5G, BLE and internet under the same system of tokenization.
Timothy Kravchunovsky, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technical Officer of Mesh Plus, said:
“IoT provides huge business potential as well as the ability to change the world. We are working hard to define a paradigm where individuals contribute and earn tokens easily, destroying all technical barriers and eliminating the energy and computational costs required by other cryptocurrencies. We are proud to work with Assembly and IOTA, with whom we share the vision of a sustainable, secure, accessible, and democratized future.”
Holger Köther, Director of Market Adoption at the IOTA Foundation, said:
“Physical infrastructures with low energy wireless networks are a crucial part to anchor data security into our everyday life. We are excited about the initiative by Tim and the team to leverage Assembly and implement the IOTA protocol into hardware-based access points and thus provide access for sensors and other clients at the last mile.”

About Assembly Network
Assembly (www.assembly.sc) is a scalable multi-chain network for sharded, composable smart contracts. It will deliver flexibility, scalability, and interoperability, and is a smart contract network for mainstream innovation and mass adoption. It does so by offering inexpensive, fast and secure smart contracts, trustless and feeless smart contract interoperability, full customization and composability of dApps, compatibility with Ethereum virtual machine and other benefits
In Assembly, anyone can launch their own smart contract chains with the flexibility to customize fee and incentive structures. The chains are overseen by permissionless and decentral dynamic validator committees of nodes that execute and validate smart contracts; these validators are assigned to their chains by a root chain through a marketplace, and the validators are rewarded with the network’s native token, ASMB.
