Giving Fans Ownership of Their Favorite Football Clubs
Right in the middle of the annual transfer market madness, we are excited to announce the latest arrival to our ecosystem The Fans Together (TFT) will be wearing the combined Assembly, Shimmer, and IOTA jersey starting in 2022, first launching their platform on Shimmer before porting it to Assembly. There’s always a special atmosphere in the IOTA stadium whenever teams in our ecosystem explore new, innovative use-cases for our tech. The democratization of football is primarily about giving more power to the stakeholders with the greatest passion for the game: the fans. Read on to learn all about TFT's ambitious plans.
Being a fan of modern football can be a frustrating experience. More and more often, supporters have no say in the direction of football clubs, and can only stand by helplessly while clubs they’ve supported all their lives are increasingly run by commercial interests that put profit before the fans or become luxury toys for their super-rich owners. The fans become customers rather than loyal supporters. And a club without supporters is no club at all.
The team behind The Fans Together (TFT) aims to break down these structures and give fans a powerful influence on the future of their favorite clubs. For example, token holders would be able to influence which position the club should strengthen during the transfer window. Other decisions, such as the colors of the home and away jerseys, or a re-design of the logo, can also be determined by the TFT token holders.
We will realize this ambitious undertaking with The Fans Together‘s own decentralized, autonomous organization (DAO), which is an autonomous organization powered by decentralized technology see (these blog posts by the IOTA Foundation to learn more). Any fan holding a $TFT token in the DAO will be able to vote on decisions that impact the clubs that are (partially) owned by the TFT DAO.
The DAO and its votes will be powered by the Shimmer, IOTA and Assembly networks.
Using an affordable, flexible DLT network such as IOTA is invaluable for The Fans Together (TFT), especially in guaranteeing low-cost entry for fans and facilitating the operation of a large community. After launching on IOTA’s innovation network, Shimmer, we will port over to Assembly where its novel smart-contract infrastructure will make our platform even more accessible.
We are a core team of five sports enthusiasts supported by a growing number of dedicated developers, designers, and freelancers. Our next milestones are the release of the TFT app and our Pre-ICO (Initial Coin Offering), both of which we anticipate in Q3 2022.
We are addressing those to whom sports means the most – the fans. We aim to establish a stronger, more democratic connection between sports organizations, athletes, sponsors, stakeholders, and the fans that keep the sport alive. We stand united in defending fan culture and sports tradition from being replaced by commercial interests.

In Assembly, anyone can launch their own smart contract chains with the flexibility to customize fee and incentive structures.
